transmutation

i should like, i think
to stretch out my fingers
and pluck notes of music from the air:
ripe and sultry succulence cupped
in the palm of my hand.

i would press my teeth to its skin,
shiver at its sharp scent in my nose
and, biting into its firm flesh,
shudder as an ecstasy of sound burst
inside my skull, drugging me senseless
and euphoric.
