one more reason i don’t like emily dickinson

if i can move one heart to breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
if i can render one man sleepless with aching
the me-less sort of pain,
(i could care less about birds
climbing into their nests again)
I shall not live in vain.

note: this is a ‘retelling’, so to speak, of an emily dickinson poem. so if it looks familiar that’s why.
